In what sounds like a scene ripped straight from a horror-comedy script, the stars of the upcoming Ready or Not 2 faced a real-life scare yesterday while promoting the film in Paris.
The cast — including Sarah Michelle Gellar, Kathryn Newton, and Elijah Wood — was staying at the upscale Bristol Hotel when a fire broke out in the hotel’s kitchen around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. Chaos quickly followed as the alarm sounded and a full-scale evacuation was ordered, sending guests and staff rushing out of the building.
Eyewitness accounts describe the moment as genuinely frightening: smoke filling the hallways, emergency sirens echoing through the elegant Parisian streets, and the sudden scramble of a high-profile promo tour coming to a screeching halt.
But here’s the good news everyone was waiting to hear: everyone is safe.
Sources close to the production confirm that the entire Ready or Not 2 cast and crew on the promotional tour made it out without injury. The fire was contained relatively quickly, and authorities described the situation as “under control” shortly after the evacuation.
Sarah Michelle Gellar, who has been a fan-favorite since her Buffy the Vampire Slayer days, was among those safely accounted for, as were rising star Kathryn Newton and veteran actor Elijah Wood. No injuries have been reported among hotel guests or staff either.
A Thriller Off-Screen
The timing couldn’t be more ironic. The original Ready or Not (2019) thrilled audiences with its deadly game of hide-and-seek, and fans have been eagerly awaiting news on the sequel. This unexpected real-world drama only adds to the buzz surrounding the film — though we’re sure the cast would have preferred to skip this particular plot twist.
As of now, the promotional schedule appears to be back on track, and the cast is expected to continue their Paris press duties without further disruption.
We’re breathing a huge sigh of relief that this story has a happy ending. In an industry where travel and tight schedules are the norm, it’s a reminder of how quickly things can change — and how grateful we should be when everyone walks away unharmed.
Stay tuned to the blog for more updates on Ready or Not 2, including any behind-the-scenes stories the cast might share from their dramatic day in Paris. In the meantime… stay safe out there, folks. And maybe check the fire exits at your hotel. 😉
What do you think? Would you have stayed calm during a hotel evacuation, or would you have been sprinting for the door like it was the final scene of the movie? Drop your thoughts in the comments!
