The dramatic scene was actually part of a pre-approved music video shoot by Drake.
Residents in the area had been given a heads-up about unusual activity during the week of April 13, but many didn’t know exactly what was happening. Some people mistook the sounds for thunder, while others brushed it off as everyday noise.
Online, reactions ranged from confusion to guesses. One person thought it was a storm, while another joked it might’ve been a raccoon knocking over garbage bins. Not everyone was fooled though — a few correctly suspected Drake was behind it.
The artist later confirmed it himself on Instagram, sharing clips of the explosive visuals used in the shoot.
The stunt is all part of building hype for his upcoming album Iceman, which still doesn’t have an official release date.
